Chronos is the god of time in Greek mythology, and he symbolizes the passing of time for our magazine, which has already celebrated its first anniversary, with success and positive repercussions among colleagues and health professionals in Brazil.

Adolescence is also a time of growth and transformation, and Adolescência & Saúde is constantly transforming itself and adding review articles, clinical studies and research results, the fruits of the work of building a new health system and the daily reflection of medical practices in outpatient clinics, offices and communities. We receive many articles from several Brazilian cities and the selection process is becoming increasingly rigorous, aiming at a balance and, at the same time, overcoming the new challenges of knowledge and ethics in the health care of adolescents.

The Federal Council of Medicine, the National Council of Medical Residency, the Brazilian Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and several medical societies, including the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics, have already approved the fact that adolescence is an area of ​​professional qualification and that it should be included in the undergraduate medical curriculum and in the training of interns and residents. We also currently have postgraduate courses in the area of ​​adolescence at several Brazilian universities, with the development of pioneering research work.

Brazil has also been very well represented at international and Latin American congresses, and recently, an excellent delegation of colleagues shone with their work at the 8th World Congress on Adolescent Health, held in Lisbon, Portugal, from May 11 to 14, 2005. The International Association for Adolescent Health (IAAH) can be accessed through the website http://www.iaah.org, and already brings together colleagues from more than 40 countries, addressing the main health issues that occur in adolescence.
