The Center for Studies on Adolescent Health at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (NESA/UERJ), which began in the 1970s, has been one of the pioneering services dedicated to adolescent health nationwide. The service currently covers three areas—primary, tertiary, and secondary—and has a multidisciplinary team of approximately 100 professionals who develop care projects, research, and teaching. Over its 35-year history, characterized by innovation, the opening of new paths, and the constant search for new partners, both within and outside the university, it has become a national and international reference center for training and consulting.

In 2003, the journal Adolescence & Health was launched, NESA’s official scientific journal, which disseminates and shares experiences in relation to adolescent health, with a quarterly publication, national distribution, and an electronic version. After three years, we are now facing a new challenge: indexing the journal.

With this objective, we prepared a special issue of the publication to present it to colleagues participating in the 33rd ^Brazilian Congress of Pediatrics, inviting them to participate in this new stage.
