Abstract

Background: Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) in children demands continuous monitoring and successful glycemic control to prevent acute symptoms and long-term health sequelae. Conventional glucose monitoring methods typically provide only sparse real-time information, which makes it challenging to detect early glycemic variations. Recent advances in Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) technology and predictive analytics systems have revolutionized diabetes management by facilitating proactive and customized healthcare interventions. Objective: This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of continuous glucose monitoring with predictive analytics systems for improving glycemic control, early risk detection and clinical decision-making in pediatric patients with diabetes. Methodology: A prospective observational investigation was conducted on 320 pediatric patients with diabetes. Predictive analytics algorithms were employed to analyze glucose trends, risks of hypoglycemia, and treatment reactions over a 12-month period through collection of real-time glucose data through use of continuous glucose monitoring devices. Clinical outcomes, glucose variability, adherence to treatment and satisfaction of the patients were evaluated. Results: The results demonstrate 21.4% improvement in the glycemic control and prediction accuracy of the hypoglycemic events of 94.6%. Time-in-range glucose levels increased from 68.2% to 86.7% with treatment adherence improving to 93.1%. The patient satisfaction was 95.4% indicating the improvement in the disease management effectiveness. Conclusion: Continuous glucose monitoring paired with predictive analytics has the potential to greatly improve pediatric diabetes management through enhanced glucose control, risk prediction, compliance with therapy, and personalized clinical decision making.
