Abstract

Background: Childhood epilepsy represents one of the most widespread neurological diseases in children all over the world. This disorder is characterized by seizures that recur due to abnormal neuronal activity, and is typically characterized by marked clinical heterogeneity. Conventional treatment approaches often depend on generic antiepileptic drug regimens that may not sufficiently account for the underlying genetic, molecule, and neurobiological variances among patients. Recent advances in medical precision have led to the establishment of customized therapeutic strategies which are tailored to the individual characteristics of the patient. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of pediatric medical precision approaches in improving evaluation, therapy selection, along with clinical outcomes for children alongside epilepsy disorders. Methodology: This was a prospective observational assessment of 300 children with epilepsy. Personalized treatment planning was supported by integrated genomic sequencing, neurological assessments, biomarkers analysis, and clinical evaluations. Patients were followed for 12 months to evaluate the control of seizures, response to treatment, optimization of medication and improvement of quality-of-life. Findings: There was a 24.6% enhancement in seizure control and the accuracy of response to therapy increased to 93.8%. In precision-guided therapy optimization, adverse drug reactions declined by 19.4% and aggregate patient quality-of-life scores increased by 21.7%. Clinical decision-making effectiveness was 94.2% after precision medicine strategies implementation. Conclusion: Precision medicine approaches greatly optimize the personalized diagnosis and treatment of childhood epileptic disorders by improving therapeutic efficacy, minimizing adverse effects, and facilitating individualized clinical decision-making.
