Isolation, Characterization And Pharmacological Evaluation Of Bioactive Compounds From Fumariaindica For Psoriasis Management

The present study investigated the phytochemical profile, isolation of bioactive compounds, antioxidant potential, and anti-psoriatic activity of Fumariaindica. Ethanolic extract of aerial parts was subjected to phytochemical screening and chromatographic separation. Two alkaloids, protopine (FI-1) and corydomine (FI-2), were isolated and characterized using spectroscopic techniques. The antioxidant activity was evaluated using DPPH and nitric oxide radical scavenging assays. Anti-psoriatic activity was assessed in imiquimod-induced psoriasis model. FI-2 demonstrated stronger antioxidant activity compared to FI-1 and crude extract. The findings indicate that isolated alkaloids from Fumariaindica possess potent anti-psoriatic activity and may serve as lead compounds for herbal dermatological formulations.
