Abstract

School leadership plays a crucial role in influencing the job satisfaction of teachers. This systematic review examines the impact of school principals' leadership style on job satisfaction of teachers. With this purpose, 25 studies that focused on the relationship between Principal leadership style and teacher job satisfaction were under analysis. These studies mostly focused on the relationships between school principals’ transformational and interaction leadership behaviours and teachers’ job satisfaction. Additionally, job satisfaction was also studied in relation to servant leadership, ethical leadership, distributive leadership, individual- and task-oriented leadership, and school leadership behaviours. Based on the findings of existing research, transformational leadership styles have a greater impact on teacher job satisfaction and Student achievements, while laissez-faire leadership indicates some negative results for both outcomes. Transactional and servant leadership demonstrate moderate effectiveness in certain contexts. Finally, school principals' administrative behaviors that promote participation and flexibility, facilitate shared leadership, and embody individual-oriented and supportive practices have been shown to enhance teachers' job satisfaction.
