Abstract

In the present study, synthesis and characterization of a new chalcons derived from 2-Acetylpyrrole and three other aldehydes as well as its uninuclear complexes including Co(II), and Ru(III) is reported. The ligand and its metal complexes have been characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, mass spectrometry, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, and thermal gravimetric analysis. Spectroscopic and physicochemical results confirmed coordination through the carbonyle and nitrogen atom of pyrrole and indicated the proposed Tetrahedral coordination geometry,. Anticancer activity of the synthesized Chalcones and its metal complexes has been examined against Lung cancer (A549) by MTT method. All compounds exhibited dose-dependent anticancer activity, and the 1L ligand with its complex of Co(II) show exhibited inhibitory activity against cancer cells while showing lower toxicity toward normal cells at a concentration of 1 mM. The study were confirmed by docking study.
