Abstract

Adolescent health is shaped by interacting psychological, physical, behavioural, social, and technological influences that may affect wellbeing across the life course. This review examines emerging determinants and technologies in adolescent healthcare through a systematic review with structured narrative synthesis of 30 studies. The evidence is organized across psychological risk, chronic disease, lifestyle behaviours, digital screening, remote monitoring, and predictive healthcare. Findings indicate that psychosocial adversity and screen-related behaviours are important concerns, while digital interventions and wearable technologies may support assessment and monitoring. Machine-learning models demonstrate promising predictive performance, although external validation, calibration, fairness, privacy, and prospective clinical impact remain necessary before implementation. The evidence is heterogeneous, and some included studies involve broader age groups; therefore, findings are interpreted according to their adolescent-specific applicability.
