Dysfunctional uterine bleeding in adolescence
Keywords:
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding, treatment, adolescenceAbstract
The complaint of irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding is one of the most common in gynecologists’ daily routine due to its impact on the patients’ quality of life. The diagnosis of dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB) is made once organic causes of irregular menstruation and menorrhagia are ruled out. It is more frequent during the early years after menarche and results mostly of anovulatory cycles caused by the immaturity of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis. The aim of this article was to perform an updated and practical review of the diagnosis and treatment of DUB in adolescence.Downloads
