Food in adolescence and relationship with stress

Objective: To analyze the types of foods eaten by a group of urban teenagers, relationships with stress and family counseling.
Methods: Field study, cross-sectional. The sample consisted of 139 adolescents aged 10 to 19 years in a municipality in
southern Minas Gerais State. Food consumption was assessed through a self-rating questionnaire; stress symptoms were
measured through the Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESA). Results: 81.3% of adolescents reported eating rice, beans and
meat, with 88.6% of them rated as not stressed, while 66.4% of parents urged teenagers to consume rice, beans and meat
often. Conclusion: Most adolescents eat rice, beans and meat and show no symptoms of stress, with no link between the
absence of stress symptoms and the types of food eaten
