Abstract

Objective: The objective of this paper is to call attention to the high rate of human papillomavirus infection in this age
group and the difficulty of psychosocial adaptation to the lesion by a male adolescent, in a clinical case study. Case De
scription: FWA, 16, male, white, born in Rio de Janeiro reported the appearance of cracks on the glans for four months,
resolved spontaneously two weeks ago. He mentioned the appearance of warty lesions a month ago, denying pruritus and
other symptoms. Dermatological examination: warty lesions, reddish, coalescing and forming the circumference of the
glans. HD: Condylomata Acuminata. Conduct: serology for syphilis with VDRL and FTA-abs (negative), treated initially
with an application of TCA on the lesion and advised to seek psychological counseling. Comments: Studies show that most people contract HPV during adolescence. Global estimates indicate that 20% of healthy individuals are infected with HPV
and most infections are asymptomatic. These conditions make its prevention and early treatment mandatory. Psychologi
cal counseling is extremely important in this age group. This stage of development influences the entire formation of their
identity among adolescents, resulting in psychosocial damage triggering changes in their mode of interaction with society.
The spread of HPV infection must be effectively contained, as these viruses are very prevalent (particularly among adoles
cents) and are involved in the etiology of several cancers, with psychosocial monitoring required to avoid any damage to
the future lives of these patients.
