Objective: To report on the experience of using Problematization Methodology for the implementation of the project
on discussing Acquired immunodefi ciency Syndrome in School: Training Multipliers. Case Description: during the daily
implementation of extension activities for this undergraduate nursing project by the Santa Maria Federal University, the need
was felt to organize study groups among academics in order to discuss the complexity of this topic and Problematization
Methodology. These academics were the facilitators for running workshops in schools, with planning based on the five steps of Problematization Methodology: observing reality (problem); key points; theorizing; possible solutions; application
to reality (practice). Comments: Problematization Methodology is perceived as a possible way for minimizing vulnerability
to HIV infection during adolescence. This experience made it possible to view teenagers as members integrated in social
environments, families, school communities and healthcare facilities that, interconnected, constitute the world and their
relationships during adolescence.
