Abstract

Objective: To discuss the role of community health agents (CHA) in healthcare in the adolescent and propose educational
interventions. Methods: A qualitative study was conducted through semi-structured interviews with 28 ACS at the
Iguatu Urban Zone, CE, Brazil, in July 2011. The organization and analysis of data were guided by the Collective Subject
Discourse (CSD), which resulted in two themes: the need of qualifi cation for the development of an educational practice
with adolescents; suggestions about educational practice with adolescents and composition of an educational material.
Results: ACS speeches reveal the need of their personal qualifi cation and interest to participate in educational activities
with adolescents through printed material. They stressed the making of folders and fl ipchart for demonstration of content
with illustration. Conclusion: The formation of ACS care to adolescents is an important way to approach this population to
health services and can be facilitated through educational tools and upon the relationship based in confi dence and bond
between these workers and the adolescents and their families.
