Prevenção da violência na adolescência: propostas existentes no Brasil e as possibilidades de atuação na saúde pública
Preventing violence in adolescence: proposals in Brazil and possibilities of acting in public health
Keywords:
Primary prevention, violence, adolescent, family health programAbstract
Objective: Investigate, based on the analysis of articles published between 2005 and 2010 in Brazil, the actions proposed
and / or developed by public health and other areas of action for health promotion and prevention of violence against
adolescents. Data source: A research of scientifi c articles from the SciELo and BVS databases yielded selection of 11 articles
which were analyzed using thematic content analyses. Data synthesis: The articles express the diversity of topics and
areas of knowledge, but are concentrated in few Brazilian states. The conceptions of violence, by consensus, expressed the
multi-determined character of the phenomenon and the conceptions of adolescence were divergent. Several determinants
of violence were identifi ed and, consequently, also diversifi ed action focuses, with predominance of primary prevention actions. The majority of these articles mention problems and challenges for the implementation of violence prevention.
Conclusion: Readings showed that violence is still an incipient subject in healthcare and discussions on this topic should
be held with healthcare teams in order to allow the necessary receptive strategies targeted towards early detection as well
as violence prevention actions on a multisectorial basis. The need of investment in the study of violence prevention and
the structuring of database systems was noted. It was also made evident that cultural and subjective changes must be the
guiding force of these actions and that the family unit must be one of the principal focal points, where one considers that
the Family Health Strategy has great action potential.
