Social representations about being healthy adolescent students

Objective: To learn and analyze the social representations about being healthy among school adolescents. Methods: This
is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive, anchored in the support theory of social representations theory. Participated in
semi-structured interviews 24 teenage students enrolled in morning shift, in the 2nd year of high school, a large public school
in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia. For data analysis we used the technique of content analysis, thematic categorical. The study
was approved by the Ethics Committee in Research of the State University of Southwest Bahia, under protocol. 229/2010.
Results: After analysis of the units of meaning, it was the four thematic areas: being healthy in relation to the concepts of
health; bodily subjectivities; emotional relationships, family and social; and, leisure. Conclusion: The construction of the
collective imagination about being healthy, the representations of teenagers, integrate multiple dimensions of human life,
and related determinants are conditioned by socio-political, cultural and economic need for explicit approach that involves
affective, social and family, living without stress, physical activity and recreation, among others.
