Notifi cação de violência contra adolescentes atendidos em Hospital escola, na região sul da cidade de São Paulo, 2011

Abstract

Objective: To describe the characteristics of violence against adolescents in the population treated at the Teaching Hospital,
in the south of the city of São Paulo, 2011. Methods: This observational cross-sectional individuated study encompasses
patients between 10 and 19 years old treated for assault at a hospital in the southern suburbs of São Paulo. A survey was
conducted of the notifi cation forms in the Medical Care and Statistics Department (SAME) at the teaching hospital, through
notifi cation under the International Classifi cation of Diseases (ICD-10): Assaults X85 − Y09. Results: Between January and December 2011, 464 cases of physical violence were treated and reported at the teaching hospital, with adolescents (10-19
years old) accounting for 12.1% of these cases. Conclusion: The main type of violence against adolescents treated in the
hospital ER was physical violence. The most common injury caused by third-party assaults against these youngsters was
diagnosed as Maltreatment Syndrome
