Objective: To identify factors associated with recurrent pregnancy in women in the late years of adolescence, in women
users of the Unifi ed Health System in Rio de Janeiro. Methods: Case-control study with 168 adolescents aged between
18 and 19 years, of which 112 cases and 56 controls. The analysis used a multivariate hierarchical model. Results: Factors
associated with recurrent pregnancy were: low schooling (OR- odds ratio = 2.82; CI – confi dence interval= 1.39-5.75)
separated parents (OR = 2.55; IC95% = 1.12-5.81), early sexual initiation (OR = 5.14; IC95% = 2.04-2.98), longtime partner
relationship (OR = 5.08; IC95% = 1.89-13.59) and not looking for health services before the fi rst intercourse (OR = 3.91;
IC95% = 1.29-11.82). Conclusion: Adolescents’ access to healthcare and family relationships may be related to recurrent
pregnancy. This study highlights the scenario of vulnerability to which adolescents are exposed and emphasizes the
importance of Public Policies focus on this age group.
