Abstract

Objective: To describe the interference of a pregnancy in the history of life of adolescents. Methods: A qualitative study
with the use of Life History method, conducted with 10 pregnant adolescents, in an Prenatal Ambulatory of a Public
Federal Hospital in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Data were collected with the aid of audio feature and later transcribed. The
study respected the ethical aspects established by Resolution 466/12. Results: Analysis of the reports showed that teenage
pregnancy was an unexpected fact in their lives, with an impact on schooling, repercussion on body image and changes
on family structure. Conclusion: This study emphasizes the importance of a bigger involvement of professionals of health,
education, family and community to promote quality of life of adolescents.
