Objective: Verify the association of teenage pregnancy and sexual violence. Data source: Systematized review of the
literature with search in databases: Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences, MEDLINE and ADOLEC, through the

central question: Sexual violence is a predisposing factor for teenage pregnancy? We included scientifi c articles written
in English, Portuguese or Spanish, published between 2004-2013 which provided results relating teenage pregnancy and sexual violence. We excluded studies that did not submit summary; involved only males; with sex workers; articles
inconsistent with the questioning of the study; theoretical articles and validation of a questionnaire. Data synthesis: Ninety
articles were found of which fi ve met the criteria for inclusion. Most of this research has been conducted on the American
continent. When analyzed sexual violence as a predisposing factor for teenage pregnancy, the studies pointed to an increase
between 2 and 180 times the chances of pregnant teenagers or teenage mothers having suffered some form of sexual abuse
in childhood and / or adolescence. Conclusion: Sexual violence is associated with teenage pregnancy in the American
