Abstract

Objective: Identify on the national and international scientifi c literature if the family infl uence the career choice of teenagers.
Data source: This is an integrative literature review, which sought the descriptors "adolescence" and "professional choice" in
among scientifi c articles from databases: LILACS, SciELO and VHL. Were used as criteria for inclusion articles in Portuguese,
English, Spanish and French, published in the last ten years (2002 to 2012) and that were relevant to the topic. Data
synthesis: We selected twelve articles following the inclusion criteria. Confronted with the evidence portrayed in the
analyzed, articles we found that family factors infl uence teens in their career choice. Conclusion: The selected articles
address that family infl uences are signifi cant in adolescent career choice, though other factors also infl uence such as family
socioeconomic status and parents level of education.
