In this article we present a consultation that has taken place in one of the Hospital Universitário Pedro Ernesto infirmaries, during the year of 2007, of 2-year-old boy that suffered from cystic fibrosis. Our goal is a discuss the possible difficulties a psychologist can go through when dealing with adolescents suffering from a chronic-degenerative disease. We believe that is possible to negociate with the family, the health team and the patient, making it possible for the last one to cross out some limits normal to adolescence without putting his life into risk. The psychologist’s main role is to act in order to facilitate communication among those three axes, making it easier to the adolescent to live his life as normally as possible, besides standing by his side, although at first it can be difficult to establish a therapeutic contract.
