Abstract

Many wards exclusive for adolescents have been created in many countries. In Brazil, these special units have been planned or even been
created in the last years. The author discusses if they are worthwhile and if the decision is positive, which problems can be anticipated, based on the 35 years long experience of the NESA’s adolescents inpatient unit.
