Post traumatic stress disorder and clinical repercussions during adolescence

Abstract

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) became a diagnosis in 1980 as a culmination of over a century of clinical observations. More than
only a politically or socially motivated conceptualization of human suffering, the biological components have allowed a better description of the consequences of traumatic stress, occurring since childhood and having long term adverse effects during adolescence and adulthood. Traumatic stress symptoms have to be identified by the health professionals in order to interrupt these events and more importantly, to take preventive actions and to commit with the health rights of children and adolescents.
