Abstract

The evaluation of adnexal tumors in adolescents is a difficult experience. Differential diagnosis is complex because all pelvic structures can present like uterine adnexal mass. Much kind of tumors with different histology can grow up from the ovaries. Functional cysts and benign tumors are the most frequent lesions in the adolescent’s gonads. Physical examination is a special step for the diagnosis and ultrasound is the most import imaging techniques. Treatments in this particular patient may have different way from older women. The majority of functional cyst needs no intervention. If necessary, conservative surgery has to be employed. Surgical intervention is directed toward preservation of reproductive and sexual function. Some malignant tumors may be ressected with conservative approach followed by adjuvant therapy.
