Pregnancy in the adolescence in units of public health in Brazil: an integrative literature review

Abstract

Objective and data source: Integrative review of content performed from the database ADOLEC, with the aim of evalu
ating the available evidence in the literature on teenage pregnancy in the various health services in Brazil. We analyzed 36
articles whose inclusion criteria were published in Portuguese, full texts available online for the period between 2000 and
2008. Data synthesis: The results show teenage pregnancy as a problem of public health, highlighting the low education
of pregnant teenagers, the late start of prenatal care, the need to broaden discussions about sexuality and contraception as
character health promotion and the importance of actions intersectoral facing the teenager. Most of the studies was con
ducted in the southeastern region of the country (58%), with more focus on states of São Paulo (33%) and Rio de janeiro
(19.4%) and services in primary health care, especially for prenatal care. We found 02 articles dealing specifi cally with the
monitoring of pregnant adolescents with juvenile dermatomyositis and rheumatic fever. Conclusion: We conclude that
there is need to produce knowledge on fatherhood and family participation as well as the reality of care services in northern
and central-west Brazil.
