Background: Early childhood is a developmental stage where dietary practices are formed, and parents play the main role as the main initiators of the dietary practices, providing the accessible food, modeling, and feeding habits. Objective: This paper will explore the paramount importance of parents in the development of healthy eating patterns throughout children growing up as well as the effect of parental attitudes and practices on nutrition. Methodology: A mixed methodology was used, involving a survey of 250 parents and observation of children aged 5–12. Statistical methods were applied in analyzing quantitative data; and the qualitative responses were analyzed as a source of providing context on parental behaviors and beliefs. Findings: The results showed that children who had their parents displaying healthy eating habits all the time were eating balanced diet at 72 percent as opposed to 38 percent of children who lacked such modeling. Furthermore, healthier food choices were found to be significantly linked (p < 0.05) both with structured meal routines and parental nutrition understanding. Conclusion: Parents have a decisive role in creating sustainable eating pattern. Parental treatment of awareness and behavior can go a long way in enhancing long-term health of children.
