Adolescent-specific factors such as socioeconomic disparities, access to health care, health literacy and pediatric resource availability are common barriers for vulnerable adolescents when accessing preventive healthcare services and emotional wellness support. The difficulties that these present pose include reduced utilization of preventive care, greater mental stress and worry, and adverse long term health effects. This study assessed how professional pediatric practices can help increase access to preventive health care and enhance emotional well-being of vulnerable adolescent populations. Using indicators of healthcare access, preventive service use, emotional well-being, health literacy, and program effectiveness, a recent narrative review and comparative analysis of pediatric health research, policy reports and adolescent intervention programs was undertaken. The study findings showed that the community-based pediatric programs increased the accessibility of healthcare resources by 34.6%, the use of preventive services increased by 29.8%, the use of emotional distress indicators decreased by 31.4%, and the use of digital pediatric health platforms increased by 26.2% among underserved adolescents. The lessons learned from these findings highlight the potential for integrated, community-based, school-based programs to significantly enhance access to healthcare and emotional wellness for vulnerable adolescents and ultimately improve their developmental outcomes.
