Abstract

Adolescent lifestyle habits and nutrition habits have a profound impact on physical, mental and developmental health outcomes for a lifetime. Eating patterns, activity, sleep, and screen time vary among communities and can have an impact on children's health promotion and cancer risk. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between lifestyle behaviors, nutrition pattern and long-term health consequences among urban, semi-urban and rural adolescent population. A cross sectional community-based study was carried out in 420 adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age with the aim of obtaining information from validated questionnaires and anthropometric measures. Data were analyzed descriptively, correlation analysis, multiple regression and ANOVA were used. This study found positive relationship between improved diet, physical activity and sleep quality and health promotion outcomes, and negative relationship between excessive screen time and outcomes. The results highlight the importance of targeted interventions and health promotion programs that can enhance the health and wellbeing of adolescents, and help to ensure positive pediatric outcomes that are sustainable in the community.
