Abstract

Adolescent lifestyles are becoming more problematic, such as being overweight, physically inactive, having unhealthy diets, spending too much time on screens, and not sleeping well. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of community-based healthy lifestyle preventive interventions and support healthy behavioral development in children. This was a cross-sectional, analytical survey conducted at a community level with 400 youth aged 10–19 years using a structured questionnaire that assessed their physical activity, dietary habits, sleep quality, screen time, exposure to health education and participation in the community. Descriptive statistic, Pearson correlation, one-way ANOVA and logistic regression analyses were applied for data analysis. The results showed that there was a significant association between more frequent participation in community health promotion programs and healthier lifestyle behaviors (p < 0.05), better behavioral development (p < 0.05) and a lower risk of developing a lifestyle disorder (p < 0.05). Community-based pediatric health promotion initiatives can be effective approaches to promoting long-term healthy behavioral development and improving the health of adolescents.
